Como Street Frenz, a new nonprofit in Columbia, was founded this year to provide resources to people experiencing homelessness in the city. The organization offers hot food, clothing, blankets, boots, basic medical care, legal assistance, and support in replacing essential documents like birth certificates and IDs. Founder B Klug emphasized the importance of collaboration with other health organizations in Columbia to make a positive impact. With a growing team of volunteers, Como Street Frenz conducts mobile operations out of Klug’s house to reach homeless individuals during the night. The organization works with other groups like the CoMo Mobile Aid Collective and Phoenix Programs rehab to provide support to those in need. Despite increasing rates of homelessness, volunteers like Klug and Stephanie Yoakum remain dedicated to helping vulnerable populations in the community. As winter approaches, efforts continue to provide resources, support, and services to those experiencing homelessness in Columbia. Como Street Frenz is in the process of obtaining 501(c)(3) status to further its mission of helping those in need.
