Missouri Tigers guard Caleb Grill was rushed to the hospital after sustaining a head and neck injury during their game against Lindenwood. Grill was taken off the court on a stretcher after an awkward hit caused his neck to snap back. He remained on the court for nearly 10 minutes receiving treatment before being taken to the hospital as a precaution. Grill, the team’s leading scorer, missed most of last season due to a wrist injury but had been averaging 15.5 points per game this season. Missouri coach Dennis Gates stated that Grill was responsive and gave a thumb’s up while being taken off the court. The team is awaiting the results of a CT scan to determine the extent of his injury. Despite the scare, the Tigers hold a 6-1 record and will face Cal next on Tuesday. The team is grateful for the medical staff’s quick response and cautious approach to Grill’s injury. Fans are hopeful for Grill’s speedy recovery and return to the court.
