Mizzou’s Chief Diversity Officer, Dr. Maurice Gipson, will be leaving the University of Missouri next month, as announced by University of Missouri System President Mun Choi. Dr. Gipson has been instrumental in leading diversity and inclusion efforts at the university and his departure comes as a surprise to many in the community.
During his time at Mizzou, Dr. Gipson implemented various initiatives to promote diversity and equity on campus. He established the Division of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity and worked to create a more inclusive environment for students, staff, and faculty. Dr. Gipson has also been actively involved in supporting underrepresented groups and addressing issues of discrimination and bias.
President Mun Choi expressed his gratitude for Dr. Gipson’s contributions to the university and stated that efforts are already underway to find a new Chief Diversity Officer.
