A woman is in critical condition after her vehicle caught fire in a crash on a rural Missouri highway. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Rachel L. Franklin, 43, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet HHR when it drifted across the centerline and collided with a 2023 GMC Sierra 3500 driven by Eldo E. Eaglen, 27. Franklin was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City with life-threatening injuries. Eaglen escaped the crash unharmed as he was wearing his seatbelt. The collision occurred at Highway 65 and Route E, about 6 miles southeast of Princeton. The pickup truck veered off the road but stopped, while the HHR spun and caught fire. The incident took place on Friday, July 19, at approximately 3:55 p.m. No further details have been released about the crash. Troopers are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
