Tragic Accident in Hallsville: Body of Construction Worker Recovered from Cistern
HALLSVILLE, Mo. — Firefighters in Hallsville, Missouri, have tragically recovered the body of a construction worker who fell into a water-filled cistern on Monday. The Boone County Fire Protection District responded to calls regarding a missing worker near Hallsville and Elm streets early in the morning.
Upon arrival, firefighters spoke with a colleague who reported that he had briefly left the construction site and, upon return, was unable to locate his coworker. An immediate search was undertaken, with both firefighters and Hallsville Police Department officers scouring the area for any signs of the missing worker. Initial evidence suggested he had not left the location.
As part of their search efforts, firefighters began pumping water from the cistern. Sadly, during this operation, they discovered an adult male’s body in the water. First responders swiftly recovered the body and transported it to the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation.
The Hallsville Police Department is leading the investigation into the incident, and they have indicated that the identity of the victim will be released when appropriate. This unfortunate event highlights the inherent risks of construction work, and the local community is mourning the loss of the worker.
