B-2 Bombers Involved in US Strike on Iran’s Nuclear Facilities Return to Missouri Base

B-2 Stealth Bombers Return to Missouri After Successful Strike on Iran

KNOB NOSTER, Mo. — Seven B-2 Spirit stealth bombers returned to Whiteman Air Force Base on Sunday after executing a high-stakes mission targeting Iranian nuclear facilities. The planes, part of the 509th Bomb Wing, conducted a coordinated strike that U.S. officials describe as a "knockout blow" to a program seen as an existential threat by Israel.

Witnesses reported that the first group of bombers circled the base before landing, with a total of seven aircraft returning in two waves. On Saturday, two groups of bombers departed the Missouri base—one as a decoy and another for the actual mission—under the cover of an elaborate strategy involving deception tactics.

The B-2s dropped 14 massive 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs on underground uranium enrichment sites in Iran, with support from refueling aircraft and fighter jets. Additionally, submarines launched dozens of cruise missiles to target other critical facilities. U.S. officials noted that Iran failed to detect the incoming strikes, allowing for a successful operation named "Midnight Hammer."

While American sources claim the mission significantly damaged Iran’s nuclear capabilities, Tehran has denied any major setbacks and vowed to retaliate. The operation underscores the evolving dynamics of international military engagement, as tensions between the U.S. and Iran continue to simmer amid ongoing regional threats. The base remains a key asset in U.S. military strategy, particularly in the context of Middle Eastern tensions.
