Missouri Football 2025: Projected Win Total, SEC Preview, and Eli Drinkwitz’s Rising Expectations

Missouri Tigers Set Ambitious Goals for 2025 Season

In an impressive show of resilience, the Missouri Tigers football team aims to build on their recent success, having enjoyed back-to-back double-digit win seasons for only the third time in program history. Head Coach Eli Drinkwitz is shifting the team’s approach from merely maintaining momentum to pursuing greater achievements.

As discussed by Gabe DeArmond from Power Mizzou on the Cover 3 College Football Summer School series, Missouri faces the challenge of replacing significant offensive talent, including quarterback Brady Cook and star wide receivers Luther Burden III and Theo Wease Jr. Typically, such departures would indicate a rebuilding phase for most programs. However, the Tigers have secured the nation’s seventh-best transfer portal class, signaling a robust intent to reload for the upcoming season.

"This coaching staff isn’t treating this year as a fallback," DeArmond stated. "Drinkwitz is vocal about aiming to achieve what has never been done before at Missouri.” His ambitious targets include winning 10 or more games consecutively—an unprecedented feat for the program—as well as clinching an SEC title and a spot in the College Football Playoff.

The quarterback battle remains unresolved, with Beau Pribula, a former Penn State backup, and redshirt junior Sam Horn vying for the starting position. Pribula’s dual-threat capabilities may provide a much-needed dynamic to the Tigers’ offense.

Despite FanDuel projecting Missouri’s 2025 win total at 7.5, with skepticism about a repeat of their previous success, the Tigers’ schedule offers a favorable chance to excel. With no road games until Week 8, Missouri has a golden opportunity to surprise this season. As the Tigers gear up for 2025, their eyes are firmly set on breaking new ground in program history.
