Mizzou Arena Hosts Thrilling Alumni Game with Star-Studded Lineup

COLUMBIA, MO — The University of Missouri’s sports community came alive on Saturday during the highly anticipated Alumni Game at Mizzou Arena. Former athletes from both basketball and football returned for the Bowers vs. Carroll matchup, showcasing their skills while supporting meaningful causes.

Fans could attend the event with a modest $10 donation, with proceeds benefiting the United Community Builders, E3 Sports Foundation, and the Carroll Family Foundation. The atmosphere buzzed as players signed autographs and engaged with supporters before the game kicked off.

Team Bowers was captained by Laurence Bowers, a standout basketball player for the Tigers from 2008 to 2013, who played a crucial role in leading the team to NCAA tournaments throughout his college career. Notable members included former All-American football star Jeremy Maclin and Doug Smith, the sixth overall pick in the 1991 NBA Draft.

On the opposing side, Team Carroll was led by DeMarre Carroll, a Mizzou basketball player from 2006 to 2008 who earned the title of Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. His team also featured Brock Olivo, a notable football alumnus and current special teams assistant, alongside recent basketball alumni Tre Gomillion and D’Moi Hodge. Current Los Angeles Clippers guard Kobe Brown attended but did not participate in the game.

The match was a nail-biter, with Team Bowers initially taking the lead at the end of the first quarter. However, thanks to Hodge’s impressive shooting, Team Carroll regained the upper hand for most of the game. In a thrilling finish, Team Carroll edged out Team Bowers with a final score of 106-105, capping off a memorable day for alumni and fans alike.
