Anne Burrell, the beloved celebrity chef known for her engaging role as the host of Worst Cooks in America, tragically passed away on June 17 at her Brooklyn home. She was 55. Burrell’s culinary journey began in earnest in 2005 when she appeared as Mark Ladner’s sous-chef on Iron Chef America. Her vibrant personality quickly made her a staple on the Food Network, where she hosted several shows, including Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, Chef Wanted, and the newly launched House of Knives. In addition to her television career, Burrell was deeply committed to her community. She served on the advisory board of the Garden of Dreams Foundation, acted as a celebrity ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and participated in City Harvest’s Food Council.
Burrell is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton; stepson Javier; her mother, Marlene; sister Jane; children Isabella, Amelia, Nicolas; and brother Ben.
