Missouri State Football Welcomes In-State QB Commitment for 2026 Class

SPRINGFIELD, MO – Missouri State University football made headlines over the weekend with the commitment of quarterback Brett Ottensmeyer from Parkway West High School in Ballwin. The rising senior announced his decision on Saturday, becoming the first known recruit for the Bears’ 2026 class under head coach Ryan Beard.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 200 pounds, Ottensmeyer completed an impressive 66.3% of his passes during the 2024 season, amassing 2,484 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, although he had limited rushing statistics. While he does not hold a ranking from major recruiting services, he had previously attracted interest from schools like Sacramento State, Lindenwood, and Miami (Ohio).

Ottensmeyer’s commitment follows an offer extended on May 21, and he shared the news on social media with a photo alongside offensive coordinator Nick Petrino and offensive line coach Max Halpin. His signing adds depth to a crowded quarterback room, especially as the Bears prepare for the post-Jacob Clark era and their inaugural season of bowl eligibility. This offseason, Eastern Michigan transfer Drew Viotto joined the team, with further growth seen in players Cole Feuerbacher and Elijah Leonard.

As of now, Missouri State’s 2026 recruiting class is unranked, but Ottensmeyer’s addition marks a significant step in building the team’s future.
