Dylan Leach Joins Toronto Blue Jays After Stellar Run at Billings Mustangs
TORONTO – In a significant addition to their roster, the Toronto Blue Jays announced the signing of former Missouri State catcher Dylan Leach to a minor league contract on Saturday. Leach, who made a name for himself during his tenure with the independent Billings Mustangs, is set to begin his career with the Blue Jays’ Florida Complex League team.
Over the past two seasons with the Mustangs, Leach has showcased impressive talent, batting .324 with 25 extra-base hits in just 51 games. His performance was particularly noteworthy in 2024, where he earned first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference honors by posting a .298 average, 16 home runs, 15 doubles, and 48 RBIs. The Carthage, Texas native also demonstrated exceptional defensive skills, leading the Missouri Valley Conference by catching 20 runners attempting to steal.
Leach’s signing increases the tally of Missouri State alumni currently playing in affiliated professional leagues to 11, illustrating the university’s strong baseball pedigree. Other notable alumni include Drake Baldwin with the Atlanta Braves and Hayden Juenger with the Buffalo Bisons, a Triple-A affiliate of the Blue Jays.
With his transition to a major league affiliate, excitement surrounds Leach’s potential contributions to the Blue Jays organization as he embarks on this new chapter in his baseball career.
