Ranking SEC Football Schedules for 2025: From Toughest (Florida) to Easiest (Missouri)

SEC Commissioner Reveals Tough Conference Schedules for 2025

Nashville, TN – SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey has presented media members with a detailed report, "A Regular Season Gauntlet," highlighting the formidable challenges facing teams in the 16-member conference. The report underscores the intense competition, particularly for the Florida Gators, who have the most grueling schedule for a second consecutive season, facing seven teams ranked in Sporting News’ Post-Spring Top 25.

Florida’s challenging slate includes matchups against formidable opponents such as No. 1 Texas, No. 3 Georgia, and No. 9 LSU, reflecting a cumulative score of 112—slightly lower than last year’s 117. Similarly, the Oklahoma Sooners are facing the second-toughest schedule, contending with three top-10 teams.

Missouri, on the other hand, benefits from the easiest schedule, playing four ranked teams at home and providing an excellent opportunity for continued success under Coach Eli Drinkwitz. In contrast, Arkansas faces a daunting schedule that includes matchups with six ranked teams, putting pressure on Coach Sam Pittman’s tenure.

Sankey’s report utilized a formula based on ranked opponents and the location of the games, assigning points to assess each team’s schedule strength. Notably, tougher road games against ranked teams garnered higher scores. This methodology revealed that eight SEC teams will face ranked non-conference opponents, a significant challenge for conference standings.

As the college football landscape evolves, the SEC’s uneven distribution of difficulty poses significant questions moving forward, with implications for coaching tenures and playoff aspirations. Interested fans can follow the developments and rankings via Sporting News as the 2025 season approaches.
