Jefferson City School District Improves Bus Inspection Results
Jefferson City, MO – In a positive development for the Jefferson City School District, this year’s Missouri State Highway Patrol bus inspection report shows significant improvement compared to previous years. Released on Thursday, the report indicates that 85.5% of the 62 inspected district buses passed, marking a notable increase from last year, when only 69.1% of buses were approved. Importantly, none of the buses inspected this year were deemed out of service, a marked contrast to 2024 when 9.1% were classified as such.
The enhancement in compliance is attributed to a recent partnership with Student Transportation of America (STA), according to Chief of Staff Ryan Burns. Burns emphasized the district’s commitment to student safety, stating, "Student safety is our top priority, and we are pleased that our new partnership with STA has allowed us to improve the quality of vehicles and transportation services our district provides."
Inspections of the school buses are mandated to be conducted by licensed mechanics or inspectors from the Driver and Vehicle Safety Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, in accordance with school bus regulations. The district’s noteworthy results reflect a dedicated effort to ensure safer transportation for students and enhance the overall quality of its transportation services. The community can take comfort in knowing that the school district prioritizes safety and is making strides to foster a reliable and secure travel environment for its students.
