American Water Charitable Foundation Awards Hydration Grants to Missouri Organizations

ST. LOUIS, June 5, 2025 – The American Water Charitable Foundation, established by American Water (NYSE: AWK), has announced a $21,025 grant to 11 Missouri organizations aimed at enhancing public hydration accessibility. The funding will support the installation of bottle fillers and drinking fountains, promoting sustainable and healthy hydration solutions in local communities.

“Accessible drinking water is a resource many take for granted,” stated Rich Svindland, president of Missouri American Water. The initiative addresses the concerning issue of plastic waste: over 60 million plastic water bottles are discarded in the U.S. daily, according to the Container Recycling Institute.

The grants, funded through the Foundation’s State Strategic Grant Program, aim to create a positive impact across American Water’s national footprint. “Staying hydrated is especially important for breastfeeding moms,” said Lori Jones, executive director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States, highlighting the utility of these renovations.

The organizations receiving grants include Twillman Elementary School, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States, and various school districts such as Rockwood and Jefferson City.

Carrie Williams, president of the American Water Charitable Foundation, expressed pride in collaborating with these organizations to promote sustainable hydration solutions.
