KMOX Celebrated at Missouri Broadcasters Association Annual Meeting
The Missouri Broadcasters Association (MBA) held its annual meeting recently, featuring the induction of three KMOX alumni into the state Hall of Fame and the recognition of KMOX’s outstanding achievements in broadcasting.
Cardinals baseball broadcaster John Rooney hosted the Hall of Fame banquet, celebrating the induction of notable figures Joe Buck, Ron Jacober, and Jim Jackson. Buck, who previously called Cardinals games for 16 years, has since transitioned to major networks like Fox and ESPN. Jacober served as sports director at KMOX and KSDK-TV, while Jackson has been a prominent radio engineer for the Cardinals Radio Network since 1998. "These are people who made broadcasting history in Missouri," stated MBA President Chad Mahoney.
The following day, KMOX received multiple awards for excellence in various categories, including:
- Breaking News Coverage for updates during flash flooding.
- Opinion/Commentary Segment for a discussion on local police checking immigration papers.
- Breaking Weather Coverage during concurrent tornado warnings and flash flooding.
- Hard News Reporting for an investigation into local nursing home conditions.
- Feature Reporting for "Eclipse from the Clouds," documenting the solar eclipse from a Southwest Airlines flight.
- Best News Anchor, awarded to KMOX’s Michael Calhoun and Megan Lynch.
KMOX also secured a second-place certificate for Total Information AM. The event highlighted the station’s commitment to quality journalism in Missouri.
