Governor Kehoe Mulls Special Session for Stadium Financing

In a parallel move, Kansas successfully held a special session in 2024 to create a financing package aimed at attracting sports teams from Missouri across state lines. Bob Hicks, a sports fan, expressed confidence that a special session is likely, but he questions whether Missouri’s proposal will be competitive enough given Kansas’s actions.
Local fan Barbara Larson voiced skepticism about the timing of Kehoe’s potential proposal, suggesting that it may be a case of too little too late. Amid these discussions, many anticipate Kehoe will indeed call a special session before the end of June to explore options that might secure the future of Missouri’s professional sports teams.
