Press Release: Free Fishing Days in Missouri – A Weekend of Outdoor Fun
Jefferson City, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites families and friends to experience the joy of fishing during the annual Free Fishing Days on June 7 and 8. This event allows residents and visitors to fish without requiring a permit, trout permit, or daily tag, making it a great opportunity to enjoy Missouri’s rich aquatic resources.
Held statewide on the weekend following the first Monday in June, Free Fishing Days encourages everyone to explore Missouri’s diverse fishing opportunities. With over a million acres of surface water and more than 200 fish species, anglers can enjoy a wealth of fishing experiences. While permits are waived, standard regulations regarding size and bag limits still apply.
To further support novice anglers, MDC’s Discover Nature – Fishing Program offers free lessons across the state, complete with provided fishing gear. Additionally, the MDC collaborates with local libraries to offer free loaner fishing equipment, including poles and tackle boxes.
For convenient access to fishing information, the free MO Fishing app allows users to locate prime fishing spots, view regulations, identify fish species, and manage permits directly from their mobile devices. The app is available for download on both Android and Apple platforms.
For more information about fishing regulations, lessons, and equipment loans, please visit the MDC website at mdc.mo.gov. Take advantage of this opportunity to reel in great memories with family and friends this June!
