South Shelby FFA Shines at 97th Missouri State FFA Convention

SOUTH SHELBY, Mo. — South Shelby FFA members recently achieved significant accolades at the 97th Missouri State FFA Convention, held from April 23 to 25. After a day of rigorous competitions in nursery landscape, agronomy, livestock, and dairy foods, the chapter celebrated its gold rating and recognition as one of the top ten chapters in Missouri. A highlight of the event was being named the top chapter in the state.

On the second day, members showcased their talents in food science, while Lindsey Magruder competed in advanced speaking. The day also featured Callie McWilliams receiving the State Fair scholarship, a notable acknowledgment of her hard work. Additionally, Maicyn Ratliff was honored as the area winner in small animal production and care proficiency, and McWilliams was recognized as both the area winner and state runner-up in sheep production proficiency.

The final day commenced with a career fair, providing valuable insights into future educational and career opportunities. The convention concluded with the awarding of state degrees to six members: McWilliams, Ratliff, Shelby Buckman, Sophie Dovin, Axel Jackson, and Christopher Roush.

The South Shelby FFA chapter’s outstanding performance at the convention reflects its commitment to agricultural education and leadership development, setting a high standard for future success in the state.
