Missouri Voter Guide: April 8 Municipal Elections

Missourians Prepare for Local Elections on April 8

MISSOURI, USA — Missouri voters are gearing up for the 2025 general municipal election on Tuesday, April 8. This pivotal election will impact local leadership and address key ballot measures throughout the St. Louis region.

High-profile mayoral races in cities such as St. Louis, Chesterfield, Ballwin, O’Fallon, and Saint Clair will dominate the ballots, alongside contests for city councils, school boards, and other local offices. Voters will also weigh in on critical propositions, including funding for schools and emergency services, as well as local government powers, highlighted by St. Louis County’s Proposition B.

To vote, residents must have registered by March 12 and be at least 18 years old by Election Day. Early voting is available from March 25 until April 7, with absentee ballots request deadlines set for March 26. On Election Day, polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and those in line by closing will still be allowed to vote.

Voters need to bring a valid photo ID, such as a Missouri driver’s license or a U.S. passport, to obtain their ballot. If a voter lacks ID, they can cast a provisional ballot, which will only be counted if identification is presented later.

Key issues on the ballot include a range of mayoral and council positions, alongside significant funding questions for school facilities, emergency services, and local infrastructure projects across multiple counties like Franklin, Jefferson, and St. Charles.

As the election date approaches, residents are encouraged to check registration status, learn about local candidates, and stay informed. Election results will be available via local media platforms, including 5 On Your Side’s website and mobile app.
