Harding Softball Team Eliminated from NCAA Central Regional Tournament
MAGNOLIA, Ark. (AP) – The 25th-ranked Harding softball team faced a tough end to their NCAA Central Regional Tournament run, suffering a 9-0 defeat against Missouri Southern on Friday. The game concluded in six innings, marking an early exit for the Lady Bisons.
Missouri Southern, the No. 6 seed and boasting a 38-17 record, established dominance early, scoring six runs in the second inning on seven hits. Taylor Nuckolls was a standout player, delivering an impressive performance with three hits, including a triple, two RBIs, and two runs scored. The Lions continued their offensive surge with a run in the fourth and capped their scoring with a two-run homer by Carsen Tinkler in the sixth.
Harding, the No. 7 seed with a 39-18 record, struggled offensively, managing just one hit throughout the game. Kiki Pickens (19-5) earned the win for Missouri Southern, pitching four innings without conceding a run and striking out four. NaTalia Sewell finished the game, preserving the shutout.
Riley Price (13-8) was tagged with the loss for Harding, allowing three runs in just 1.2 innings. Relief efforts were made by Brooklyn Gobble and Avery Booker, but the Lady Bisons were unable to mount a comeback.
This defeat marks the end of Harding’s postseason journey, while Missouri Southern advances in the tournament.
