University of Missouri Achieves Academic Excellence in NCAA APR Scores

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The NCAA has unveiled the latest Academic Progress Rates (APR) for the multiyear cohort, highlighting the University of Missouri’s remarkable academic performance. Eight Mizzou athletic programs achieved a perfect score of 1,000, with 15 teams either matching or exceeding their sport’s national averages. Additionally, thirteen programs posted perfect single-year APR scores for the 2023-24 academic year.

The APR evaluates eligibility, retention, and graduation rates over a four-year period, serving as a key indicator of academic performance. The teams with perfect multiyear scores include women’s golf—achieving this milestone for the 12th time and fourth consecutive year—alongside women’s basketball, gymnastics, volleyball, soccer, and softball, which have also demonstrated consistent excellence. Men’s cross country and men’s track and field rounded out the teams with perfect scores.

In terms of single-year performance, Mizzou’s men’s basketball, men’s golf, women’s cross country, tennis, and women’s track and field all achieved perfect 2023-24 APR scores. Notably, nine Mizzou programs received special recognition for ranking in the top 10% of their respective sports, marking a historic moment for men’s cross country and wrestling.

Additional achievements include the Mizzou football team’s multiyear score of 989, significantly above the sport’s average, and the wrestling program’s best-ever score of 995. Eight Mizzou teams also ranked first or tied for the best multiyear score in the Southeastern Conference for their sports.

Overall, Mizzou continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence, with 16 programs surpassing the national average in Division I athletics, further solidifying its reputation as a leader in both athletics and academics.
