Southeast Missouri Volleyball Welcomes Tara Beilsmith as New Assistant Coach for 2025 Season
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri Volleyball has announced the hiring of former standout player Tara Beilsmith as the next assistant coach for the 2025 season. Head Coach Julie Yankus made the announcement on Thursday, expressing her excitement about Beilsmith rejoining the Redhawks’ program.
Beilsmith, who played for Southeast Missouri from 2019 to 2023, has been a volunteer assistant coach at Lindenwood during the 2024 season, where she contributed significantly to the team’s success, including leading them to their first Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Tournament title.
“Tara’s extensive knowledge of the game and her fervor for SEMO Volleyball make her an ideal addition to our staff,” said Coach Yankus. “She will excel in guiding our defense and coaching our passers, and she will continue to enhance our recruiting efforts in the St. Louis area.”
As a player, Beilsmith was a force on the court, earning the title of OVC Defensive Player of the Year twice and securing multiple All-OVC selections. She is celebrated for her record-setting career, amassing 3,034 digs—making her the OVC’s all-time leader and ranking her third in NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball history. In the 2023 season, she set a single-season record with 797 digs, placing fourth in NCAA history.
Beyond her athletic prowess, Beilsmith graduated with a degree in Cybersecurity and completed her Master’s in Business Administration at Southeast Missouri. A native of Weldon Spring, Missouri, she brings a deep commitment to the program and a passion for empowering the next generation of players.
The Redhawks are poised for an exciting season ahead with Beilsmith’s expertise on board.
