Columbia Wins 2025 Missouri Municipal League Innovation Award for Home Weatherization Program
Columbia has been honored with the 2025 Missouri Municipal League Innovation Award, recognizing its impactful Home Weatherization Grant Program. Launched in October 2024, the initiative aims to address housing affordability issues and inadequate insulation across mid-Missouri.
The program offers no-cost insulation services and weatherization upgrades to income-qualified homeowners enrolled in utility payment plans. By enhancing the efficiency of homes, it not only reduces utility costs but also creates a more sustainable living environment for residents.
City Manager De’Carlon Seewood praised the efforts of the City staff, emphasizing the program’s role in positively affecting the lives of vulnerable residents.
