Missouri State Softball Shines in All-Conference Honors
ST. LOUIS – Missouri State University’s softball team celebrated individual excellence as three student-athletes were recognized as All-Missouri Valley Conference performers, announced on May 7.
Senior McKenzie Vaughan earned her second First-Team selection, a triumphant return after missing last season due to injury. In conference play, Vaughan boasted a .299 batting average, driving in 29 runs with 10 home runs. Notably, she achieved a .667 slugging percentage, ranking third in both home runs and RBIs among league competitors. Vaughan also shattered the Missouri State career home run record, hitting her 32nd homer against Belmont on April 26.
Sophomore Alexis Perales made her mark as a Second-Team catcher, leading the Bears with a .328 batting average in conference play and contributing nine RBIs. Behind the plate, her defensive prowess was evident with a .989 fielding percentage and successful attempts at throwing out base runners.
Joining them is fellow sophomore Emily Gerardy, who secured a spot on the All-Defensive Team. The second baseman started all 27 league games and recorded a .981 fielding percentage. Gerardy displayed her versatility, contributing to the team’s offense with a .257 average, 12 runs scored, and four stolen bases.
As the No. 5 seed, Missouri State prepares to compete in the MVC Tournament, facing No. 12 seed UIC later today at 1:00 p.m. The tournament will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
