Missouri House Wraps Up Busy Day with Multiple Bill Passages

On May 5, the Missouri House convened at 4:00 PM and engaged in a whirlwind of legislative activity ahead of the session’s conclusion. The session began with the approval of the journal and remarks from former Representative Baker.

Key discussions ensued when Rep. Deaton moved to reject ceding on SB63. Subsequently, Rep. Brown introduced the CCR SS HCS HBS 595 & 343 A.A., which successfully passed with a vote of 102-34 and later received a final approval at 103-37.

Rep. Oehlerking’s SS SCS HB 754 A.A. also garnered attention. Following vigorous discussions, it passed overwhelmingly with a vote of 128-8.

The agenda filled with amendments marked the 5:00 PM hour. Representatives presented various amendments to HCS SS SB 160, resulting in multiple adoptions amidst lively debate. However, an emergency clause associated with the bill ultimately failed with 12 votes in favor against 130 opposed.

Further discussions continued into the 6:00 PM hour with more amendments to HCS SS SB 150. Here, several amendments passed, but others did not see success, including Rep. Steinhoff’s proposal.

Ultimately, both HCS SS SB 150 and HCS SS SB 160 were adopted and passed third readings. The House adjourned, scheduling its next session for 10:00 AM on May 6, continuing the momentum of legislative endeavors as the session draws to a close.
