Columbia Police Make Arrest in Connection to Multiple Shootings
Columbia, MO – In a significant breakthrough, Columbia police arrested 23-year-old Joshua Abrams on Friday, linking him to two separate shootings in the area. The first incident occurred on April 13 at the intersection of Ninth Street and Broadway, while the second took place on May 1 in the 4700 block of Clark Lane. Abrams faces serious charges including first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, and driving while intoxicated.
At the May 1 incident, responding officers discovered multiple bullet casings at around 12:15 AM but reported no injuries or property damage.
In other developments, a tragic shooting claimed the life of a 56-year-old man from Sturgeon on Saturday evening. According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a disturbance at North Highway NN just after 8:30 PM, where one man shot another during an altercation. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while deputies apprehended 31-year-old Dalton Perkins, the alleged shooter, trying to flee.
Meanwhile, an unrelated mass casualty incident occurred in Gasconade County, where a shuttle bus accident injured 41 people. The bus driver reportedly lost control on State Route 100 around 10:45 AM, veering off the road into a ditch. Local hospitals treated numerous injuries stemming from the crash.
