Missouri Celebrates the Katy Trail’s Inception with Statewide Events

The Katy Trail State Park in Missouri is celebrating the opening of a new welcome center at the Treloar Trailhead in Marthasville, honoring the trail’s creators, Edward “Ted” Jones Jr. and his wife Pat. The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on April 26 with fun activities for visitors, including tree plantings, live music, giveaways, and lunch. Edward Jones, in partnership with Missouri State Parks and Magnificent Missouri, is hosting additional events at various trailheads across the state to promote conservation efforts.

Edward Jones has committed to promoting healthier futures and leaving a positive impact on the communities it serves, in line with the legacy of Ted and Pat Jones. The firm is celebrating the couple’s 100th birthdays by engaging in storytelling, special activities, and community involvement throughout the year. The new Ted and Pat Jones Welcome Center, located in Treloar Mercantile, is made possible by a generous donation from Edward Jones.

Collaborating with Dan Burkhardt of Magnificent Missouri and Missouri State Parks, the Katy Trail activities aim to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of the area. Visitors are encouraged to participate in tree plantings, trail cleanups, and other conservation efforts to ensure the sustainability of the trail for future generations.
