The UTV Patriot Ride, an annual event now in its seventh year in Cameron, Missouri, brings together over 300 utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) for a country-style cruise through the countryside. The event draws riders from across Missouri and even out of state, with this year’s participants including a group from Pennsylvania. The ride, scheduled for April 26, raises money for the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, providing essential items and experiences for the veterans living there.
Organized by the Cameron Veterans Assistance League, the event has helped fund items like a new van used for veteran outings such as fishing trips and movie nights. The goal for this year’s ride is to raise over $70,000, up from $50,000 raised last year. With funds generated since it began totaling over $200,000, the event aims to provide the residents with the best possible support in their last home. The ride is expected to be the biggest yet, with more than 300 participants cruising through the country to show their support for the veterans.
The Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron houses over 200 veterans, including Navy veteran Dennis Dornhoffer. Dornhoffer, who has lived there for over two years, expressed his gratitude for the community support, stating that events like the UTV ride make a lasting impact on the veterans.
