Kynlea Compton, a 7-year-old from Muskogee, impressed attendees at the Exchange Club of Muskogee’s Chili & BBQ Cook-Off by serving up delicious brisket at the Okie Eggers booth. The event, held at Hatbox Field, raised money for children’s charities and attracted barbecue lovers from all over.
Okie Eggers took home the Grand Champion title with their slow-cooked chicken wings, brisket, and ribs, cooked in 50-gallon cans. Kristi Hoos, a member of the team, emphasized their tradition of winning awards and bringing in barbecue enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, Ruckus Q’s booth drew a long line with their mouthwatering ribs, chicken, and macaroni and cheese. Mother and son duo, Christina and Josiah Pearson, raved about the mac and cheese, declaring it a game-changer.
Insurance Agent Don David brought a taste of south Louisiana to the event with his “Cajun Threauxdown” booth, serving up sausage, beans, cookies, and nut bars. He explained that he wanted to offer a variety of dishes to the crowds, not just for the competition.
Overall, attendees enjoyed sampling a wide range of barbecue and sides, with many praising the quality and flavor of the dishes. Kristi Hoos reflected on the event, noting that her husband and friends have been cooking at the Cook-Off for years, sticking to their tried and true recipes while having a great time on their favorite weekend of the year.
