The Missouri State women’s golf team sits in sixth place after the first round of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship at Annbriar Golf Club. Despite being picked to finish second in the preseason poll, the Bears posted a disappointing 310 in windy conditions. Freshman Siena Minor led the team with a 75, putting her in a tie for 12th place. Junior Kiser Pannier is one shot behind in 19th place. The team will look to improve in the upcoming rounds.
Illinois State, the preseason favorite, leads the tournament with a two-over-par 290. Evansville is in second place at 298, followed by Drake and Southern Illinois tied for third at 301. Bradley rounds out the top five with a score of 302.
The tournament will continue with the second round on Monday at 9:30 a.m., with the final round scheduled for Tuesday. The Bears will aim to make a comeback and improve their standings in the remaining rounds.
