Baseball Loses Both Games in Doubleheader against Florida

The University of Florida baseball team secured a doubleheader sweep against the University of Missouri, with a 5-0 shutout victory in the first game and a walk-off 3-2 win in the second game. Pitching played a crucial role in the Gators’ success, with Aidan King and Jake Clemente delivering a shutout in the first game, while Brendan Lawson’s walk-off single secured the victory in the second game. Despite the Tigers battling back from a late deficit in game two, the Gators ultimately prevailed.

The Tigers scored both of their runs via home runs, with Pierre Seals and Cayden Nicoletto each hitting one. The Gators responded with a two-run shot from Blake Cyr and eventually clinched the victory in the bottom of the seventh inning with Lawson’s game-winning hit. Overall, the Gators’ pitching staff limited the Tigers to just two runs on three hits.

The victory marked the Gators’ 24th win of the season, improving their record to 24-14 overall and 4-11 in the SEC. The Tigers, on the other hand, fell to 12-23 overall and 0-15 in the SEC. The Tigers will look to bounce back in their next game against Missouri State on April 15th.

The Tigers’ catching tandem of Mateo Serna and Jedier Hernandez had a solid performance, throwing out three would-be base stealers in the doubleheader. Despite the loss, the Tigers have shown improvement and will aim to continue their progress in upcoming games.
