Snow, rain, and fierce winds hit the Northeastern region

A slow-moving low-pressure system is bringing snow, rain, and gusty winds to the Northeast this weekend. Winter alerts are in effect for parts of Vermont, Massachusetts, and New York, with 1 to 3 inches of additional snow possible in some areas. Some locations have already received significant snowfall, with reports of up to 9 inches in Princeton, Massachusetts.

Temperatures in the Northeast are also colder than usual, with temperatures dipping below average by 10 to 20 degrees. However, temperatures are expected to rebound to seasonal highs by Sunday.

Scattered rain is also expected in the region through Saturday afternoon, with most areas drying out by Sunday morning. A new wave of rain and higher-elevation snow is expected to push onshore on Sunday across New England, with Maine seeing the biggest impacts.

Overall, no severe weather or flash flooding is anticipated, but residents in the Northeast should be prepared for wintry conditions and changing weather throughout the weekend.
