Bears Secure Series Victory Over Valpo with 10-5 Triumph

Missouri State baseball secured a 10-5 victory over Valparaiso at Hammons Field, with Carter Bergman tying a career high with four RBIs and Zack Stewart hitting his 40th career home run. The Bears claimed their seventh series victory of the season and remain in first place in the Missouri Valley Conference. Valpo took an early lead, but MoState responded with a home run from Bergman to take the lead. Stewart’s solo homer put the Bears ahead for good, and they broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning. Pitcher Jason Schaaf threw seven strong innings on short rest to earn the win. Caden Bogenpohl extended his reached base streak to 46 games, while Nick Rodriguez had a 20-game hitting streak. The Bears go for the series sweep on Sunday. The game was the ninth time in 17 home games that the Bears scored in double figures. Tickets for home games can be purchased, and MSU students get in free with a valid Bearpass ID. #GoBears.
