Mizzou Football’s Demetrious Johnson Tiger Lounge Dedication

Mizzou football honored the late Demetrious Johnson by dedicating the Demetrious Johnson Tiger Lounge in the Mizzou football building. The lounge, funded by Tim and Barb Wies, provides a space for players and staff to relax and gather. Johnson, a former Mizzou football player, was a beloved figure who had a significant impact on the program.

During his time at Mizzou, Johnson helped lead the team to 28 victories and three bowl appearances. He excelled on the field and off, earning two-time All-Big Eight Conference honors and leading the team in interceptions. After his collegiate career, Johnson played in the NFL and later turned to a life of service, establishing the Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation to help underprivileged children and families in his community.

Johnson’s daughters, Taylore and Alexandria, spoke about their father’s passion for Mizzou football and how it shaped his life. They emphasized his dedication to giving back and helping others, which was a key part of his legacy. Johnson’s impact extended beyond the football field, as he mentored current and former Tigers and served as a role model in the community.

After his passing in 2022, Johnson was posthumously inducted into the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame. His family, friends, and former teammates gathered to celebrate his life and honor his memory. The dedication of the Demetrious Johnson Tiger Lounge serves as a fitting tribute to a man who left a lasting impact on Mizzou football and the community.
