Items that will cost you more under Trump’s tariffs

President Trump’s decision to suspend some of the new tariffs he announced recently does not change the fact that consumers will soon be paying more for goods and services. Economists estimate that these tariffs would reduce households’ purchasing power by an average of $4,400 annually. While there was a temporary dip in inflation in March, analysts expect prices to rise again in the near future.

Consumers can expect to see price increases in various sectors, including electronics, vehicles, auto parts, nuts, coffee, rice, wine and spirits, clothing, toys, and seafood. For example, the cost of iPhones, which are primarily manufactured in China, could increase by at least $350. Tariffs on imports from countries such as Brazil, the Ivory Coast, and South Africa will raise prices on products like nuts and coffee. The U.S. is also expected to see an increase in rice prices due to tariffs on imports from countries like Thailand and India.

Additionally, popular brands like Nike, Skechers, and VF Corporation may see significant price hikes as a result of tariffs. The Toy Association warns of price increases of 15-20% on toys, and seafood prices are expected to rise as well. In the end, consumers will likely face higher costs of living and reduced consumption due to these tariffs, experts warn.
