State Official Says Missouri’s Sports Betting Timeline Will Not Be Speeded Up

The Missouri Gaming Commission is moving ahead with plans to launch sports wagering in the state by December 1, 2025, as required by the constitution. After Missouri voters approved legalizing sports wagering last November, the commission adopted rules and regulations to set up the infrastructure. The rules were sent to Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins for possible emergency classification, which would have allowed sports wagering to start as early as June. However, Hoskins declined to classify the rules as an emergency, citing that they did not meet the requirements of Missouri statutes. As a result, the timeline for launching sports wagering has been pushed back to August 30, 2025. Despite this setback, the Missouri Gaming Commission remains committed to implementing sports wagering in the state by the required deadline. Residents and stakeholders can expect further updates and developments as the commission works towards the goal of launching sports wagering in Missouri.
