In a thrilling game that lasted over four hours, the Wichita State Shockers defeated the Missouri State Bears 9-8 on Sunday afternoon at Eck Stadium. Mauricio Millan’s two-out single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning sealed the victory for the Shockers after Max Knight tied the game with a solo homer in the top of the ninth. The Bears had a strong offensive performance, matching a season high with 15 hits, including a career-high three hits from Caden Bogenpohl and a near cycle from Taeg Gollert.
Despite falling behind early after a four-run first inning by the Shockers, the Bears fought back with a five-run third inning to take a 5-4 lead. However, the Shockers rallied and the game remained close throughout, with WSU finally clinching the win in the ninth inning.
The Bears will now shift their focus to playing 11 of their next 13 games at Hammons Field, starting with a matchup against Oral Roberts on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Fans can catch the game on ESPN+ or listen on KBFL 96.9 FM/1060 AM.
