Ex-Missouri House Speaker Files Countersuit Against Whistleblower

Former Chief of Staff to a scandal-plagued Missouri House Speaker, Rodney Jetton, is countersuing former House administrator Dana Rademan Miller for damages exceeding $25,000, citing emotional and mental anguish. Jetton, hired by Speaker Dean Plocher during a 2023 staff shake-up, claims loss of employment and enjoyment of life due to Miller’s actions. The lawsuit alleges embarrassment and public humiliation suffered by Jetton.

Miller had previously sued Jetton and Plocher for abuse of authority, retaliation, and mismanagement, but her case was dismissed in December and is now under appeal. Plocher, who was attempting to steer a software contract without proper bidding, faced scrutiny, leading to the resignation of certain staff members.

Jetton, a former House speaker, had a troubled past with legal issues but had returned to state government before losing his job under Gov. Mike Kehoe’s administration. Miller’s allegations against Jetton included a meeting where he made a threatening gesture towards her authority.

Jetton’s countersuit claims malicious intent by Miller and states that he has suffered irreparable harm, loss of self-esteem, and emotional distress as a result of her lawsuit. Attorney David Steelman of Rolla is representing Jetton in this case. Miller has declined to comment on the matter.
