Missouri Aircrew Trains on C-130 with 8 Blades

The 139th Airlift Wing of the Missouri Air National Guard is currently undergoing crucial C-130H3 qualification training to ensure their aircrew remains mission-ready. This training became necessary as the C-130H2 simulators at Minneapolis and Dobbins are undergoing modifications, temporarily making them unavailable. With the support of the 182nd Airlift Wing in Peoria, Illinois, the 139th AW now has access to an H3 aircraft for training purposes. The Peoria H3 aircraft is equipped with the NP2000 eight-bladed propellers, allowing aircrew members to become proficient with the upgraded system. Approximately 60 aircrew members will need to complete H3 training, including certification on the NP2000 propeller system.

Lt. Col. Chase Bodenhausen, commander of the 139th Operations Support Squadron, highlighted the improved functionality of the H3 compared to the H2.5 variant currently in use. The willingness of the 182nd AW to provide one of their aircraft demonstrates the strong sense of camaraderie within the Air National Guard.

This training not only ensures the mission-readiness of the 139th AW but also reinforces the strength and cooperation present within the Air National Guard. The aircrew will spend the following week flying the H3 aircraft to complete their qualification and certification requirements.
