A Minnesota woman, Jackie Shroyer, has been charged with the murder of her husband, Beau Shroyer, during a Christian missionary trip to Angola. Beau was found dead in a vehicle in Thienjo in October, and Jackie was arrested in November for allegedly forming a murder-for-hire plot. The Lakes Area Vineyard Church confirmed that she has been charged as a co-author in her husband’s murder. The family’s children, ranging from 9 to 17 years old, are back in the U.S. and being cared for by SIM USA and the church. Three other suspects were also arrested in connection with the murder, including two men named Bernadino Isaac Elisa and Isalino Musselenga Kayoo, with a fourth suspect on the run. Evidence including a knife allegedly brought from the U.S. and money was found at the scene. The Angolan Criminal Investigation Service suspects a romantic relationship between Jackie Shroyer and one of the accomplices, as well as her reluctance to leave Angola at the end of the mission, as possible motives for the crime. Beau Shroyer was a student resource officer in Detroit Lakes and was known for his kindness and commitment to serving others. Jackie Shroyer posted about their life in Angola on social media, including just days before the murder. The case is scheduled to go to trial within the next six months.
