The Missouri Department of Agriculture is looking to capitalize on the state’s successful agricultural exports by participating in food showcase events in Taiwan. With exports exceeding $3.2 billion in 2023, Missouri’s Agriculture Director, Chris Chinn, is eager to promote Missouri-grown products such as soybeans, pork, dog and cat food, and forest products at the upcoming events.
Chinn highlighted the importance of seeking new export markets to bring diversity and add value to products created by Missouri farmers and agribusinesses. The state’s ag community stands to benefit from connecting with overseas buyers, with Taiwan showing interest in purchasing significant quantities of soybeans and corn from the U.S.
By attending trade shows in Taiwan and other countries, Missouri aims to expose its products to a wider market and facilitate trade partnerships. Buyers from Asia, including top export partners like China, South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam, are expected to attend the trade shows.
With Missouri ranking in the top ten for 14 different commodities grown in the U.S., the state’s agricultural sector has a strong foundation for expanding its export opportunities. By participating in international trade events, Missouri hopes to further boost its agricultural exports and strengthen economic ties with global partners.
