Pennsylvania hospital shooting claims life of police officer


A police officer, Andrew Duarte, was killed in a shooting at UPMC Memorial Hospital near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The suspected gunman was also killed. The incident occurred at around 11 a.m. ET on Saturday, with at least two officers and several medical staff being shot. Despite the violence, no patients were physically harmed. The shooter’s identity and motive have not been released, and authorities have stated that there is no active threat to the public currently.

Duarte, a law enforcement veteran, had joined the West York Borough Police Department in 2022 after serving with the Denver Police Department in Colorado for five years.
