6 injured, 4 dead in devastating Missouri highway crash


A tragic two-car crash in Vernon County, Missouri on Friday evening resulted in the deaths of one man and three young women. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred when a Toyota Corolla failed to stop at a stop sign on County Road C and was struck by a GMC Terrain on U.S. 54 Highway. The Toyota then veered off the road and hit a tree.

The 49-year-old male driver of the Toyota and a 38-year-old female passenger were seriously injured, with the driver airlifted to a hospital in Joplin and the passenger airlifted to Springfield. Sadly, three young female passengers aged 18, 19, and 21 were pronounced dead at the scene, with two of them not wearing seatbelts.

The GMC Terrain driver, a 38-year-old male, also died as a result of the crash. A 39-year-old female passenger was seriously injured and airlifted to Springfield, while three teenage passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries and were taken to hospitals in Nevada. Only one of the teens was wearing a seatbelt.

The identities of those involved in the crash were not released by MSHP. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities stress the importance of wearing seatbelts for safety on the road.
