Softball team splits opening day of Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic


On February 21, 2025, the University of Missouri softball team split their opening day of the 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic at the Big League Dreams Complex. They secured a 1-0 victory over Rutgers but fell to No. 4 UCLA in a 4-1 match-up. With a 1-1 record on the day, Missouri is now 7-6 in 2025.

In the first game against Rutgers, Missouri’s closer Taylor Pannell pitched a complete-game shutout in her first career start, earning the Tigers a win. A pinch-hit RBI double from freshman Saniya Hill secured the victory. In the second game against UCLA, Missouri fell 4-1, with Claire Cahalan and Julia Crenshaw contributing hits and Hill earning her second hit in as many games.

The next games for Missouri at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic include matchups against Baylor and Minnesota, both on February 21. Both games will be played at Yankee Stadium at the Big League Dreams Complex and will be broadcast on FloCollege ($).

Missouri’s Taylor Ebbs is currently on a five-game hit streak and has a total of 97 hits in her collegiate career. Hill, a Godley, Texas native, has had a strong start to her career with two hits in as many games and a four-game reached base streak. Additionally, Julia Crenshaw earned her 100th career hit with a double in the sixth inning against UCLA.
