Saint Louis University’s Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing has been awarded a $334,117 grant from the Missouri State Board of Nursing to enhance nursing education programs. The grant will be used to expand the capacity of the School of Nursing to assist nurses with associate degrees in pursuing bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing. This effort aims to develop more nurse educators, ensuring there are enough qualified professionals to train the next generation of nurses in Missouri.
Devita Stallings, Ph.D., and Deborah Horton, Ph.D., RN, are leading the initiative, which will support seven nurses each year with full tuition and technology stipends for the RN-BSN program. By investing in training nurse educators, nursing schools can increase enrollment, maintain low student-to-teacher ratios, and provide essential clinical training to nursing students.
Stallings and Horton hope this collaborative effort will improve healthcare delivery by ensuring there are enough qualified educators in the region. The Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing, founded in 1928, is known for its innovative programs and nationally recognized faculty. The grant funding will further enhance the school’s reputation for excellence in nursing education. For more information about the School of Nursing, visit their website.
