Jeffrey Brummett, a resident of Rolla, Missouri, was recently inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame for his achievements in mounted shooting with his American Quarter horse, Tucker. Brummett, dressed in cowboy attire, shared his journey from a farm near Cuba, Missouri, to becoming a world champion in the fastest-growing equestrian sport in the nation.
Brummett’s success in mounted shooting began in 2018, and he quickly rose to win multiple world championships in different categories. Despite facing challenges such as a recent eye injury during a competition, Brummett continues to compete in close to 10 events annually, aiming for more victories in the future.
At the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Brummett highlighted the importance of practice and dedication in achieving success in any sport. He hopes that his induction will open doors for other equestrian athletes to be recognized for their skills and accomplishments.
Brummett’s trusted companion, Tucker, the 18-year-old horse, was also present at the ceremony and received recognition as well. As a VP at Stifel Financial in Rolla when not competing, Brummett plans to continue his journey in mounted shooting for the next few years before considering retirement for Tucker and training a new horse.
With his induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, Brummett aims to raise awareness and appreciation for mounted shooting as a competitive sport and hopes to inspire others in the equestrian community to strive for similar recognition.
