The delay has caused Missouri to miss out on revenue from major sporting events. Kansas legalized sports betting through lawmakers, while Missouri did so through a ballot measure. Kansas has seen significant revenue from sports betting during playoff runs. Missouri is expected to see a similar return once sports betting is operational. With sports betting not yet legal in Missouri, many residents are going to Kansas to place bets. Once legalized, they won’t need to travel out of state.
