LSU Women’s Basketball Defeats Missouri 71-60 in SEC Matchup
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 6 LSU women’s basketball team secured their ninth SEC win of the season with a 71-60 victory over Missouri on Thursday night at the Mizzou Arena. Flau’Jae Johnson led LSU in scoring with 19 points, followed by Mikaylah Williams with 16 points and Aneesah Morrow with 13 points and 14 rebounds, marking her 22nd double-double of the season.
Missouri’s Grace Slaughter was the leading scorer for her team with 18 points. Despite a slow start for LSU, the team managed to take the lead in the second quarter and maintained it throughout the game. LSU’s strong defensive play limited Missouri to 33% shooting from the field.
After a competitive third quarter, LSU pulled away with a 15-1 run to secure their victory. The team will now return home to face the No. 19 Tennessee Volunteers on Sunday at the PMAC. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
The win against Missouri extends LSU’s dominant season record to 24-1 overall and 9-1 in the SEC, positioning them as a strong contender in the conference.
