No. 20 Mizzou Wrestling Suffers 36-3 Loss to No. 3 Oklahoma State
The No. 20 University of Missouri wrestling team faced a tough loss to the No. 3 Oklahoma State Cowboys with a final score of 36-3. The Tigers, now 0-2 on their weekend road trip to Oklahoma, are sitting at 5-9 (4-3 Big 12) for the season. Meanwhile, the Cowboys remain undefeated at 12-0 (9-0 Big 12).
Mizzou started off with a tough fight, but Oklahoma State managed to secure two wins before the Tigers got on the board. Redshirt junior Josh Edmond secured a victory in the 141-pound weight class to briefly halt the Cowboy’s momentum. However, OSU continued to dominate with two more wins, leading 13-3 at the break.
The marquee match of the evening featured redshirt sophomore Cam Steed facing three-time All-American Cameron Amine, resulting in a hard-fought decision for Steed. True freshman Aeoden Sinclair also put up a good effort but fell short against returning NCAA Finalist Dustin Plott. The Cowboys went on to win all five matches in the second half, securing bonus points in the final four matches.
This loss brings Mizzou’s record against Oklahoma State to 8-46-1, with Oklahoma State extending their win streak in the series to three duals. Mizzou will look to bounce back on Senior Night against Iowa State at the Hearnes Center on February 22. Fans can catch the action on UFC Fight Pass.
