Senior Athletes and Coach McGuire to Be Recognized at Dr. Rick McGuire Track & Field Invitational


University of Missouri Track and Field will be hosting the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational this weekend at the University’s fieldhouse in Columbia. The event will feature teams from Nebraska, North Dakota State, Indiana State, and others, along with senior day celebrations for 25 athletes. The event will honor the legacy of Dr. Rick McGuire, a legendary coach and alumnus who made significant contributions to the sport of track and field.

During his time coaching at Mizzou, Dr. McGuire coached numerous All-Americans, conference champions, and Olympic athletes, as well as founding the Positive Coaching School at MU. The event will highlight the impact he had on the program and the sport as a whole. The team will also celebrate its 25 seniors, including standout athletes such as Kiyah Bast, Skylar Ciccolini, and Johnny Martin.

In recent competitions, athletes like Sam Innes, Allison Newman, and Angus Beer have achieved impressive results, setting program records and earning top rankings nationally. All-American returnees like Alicia Burnett and Sterling Scott have also made waves in their respective events, looking to build on their success this season.

Additionally, the team has welcomed new additions to their roster, including five distance runners and three other athletes, to strengthen their lineup for the upcoming season.
